What this tool removes
Most watermarks live in a defined region — a corner logo, a text stamp across the bottom, a date burned in by an old camera, a semi-transparent band from a previous tool. If you can draw a rectangle around it, this tool can erase it: patch mode fills the box with a blend sampled from the surrounding pixels (ideal for skies, walls, water and other textures), while crop mode cuts the entire strip containing the mark for a guaranteed clean edge.
Typical legitimate uses: cleaning your own photos that carry a watermark from an old tool or an ex-client's trial software, removing the corner mark an AI generator stamped on an image you generated, or tidying licensed stock previews after you purchased the license.
Use it on photos you have the right to edit
A quick note that matters: removing a watermark from someone else's photo to use it without a license is copyright infringement in most countries, and stock agencies actively pursue it. This tool is for photos you own, generated, or licensed. If you need an image, licensing it is cheaper than the takedown.
What a browser tool can't fix
Two things are beyond any honest client-side tool. First, watermarks tiled across the entire image — dozens of overlapping marks destroy information in every region, and "removing" them convincingly requires generative inpainting that reconstructs rather than cleans. Second, invisible provenance watermarks like SynthID, which are embedded in the pixel data itself; they cannot be seen or reliably stripped. This tool does visible, region-limited marks, and does them well.
For AI-generated corner marks specifically (Gemini sparkles, Grok logos, Sora frame stamps), the dedicated AI watermark remover page has matched presets, and the Gemini watermark remover page covers the most common case.
Why process in the browser?
After the cleanup: protect your work the right way
If you're removing an old watermark, you may want to add a better one. Our main watermark photo toolkit adds text or logo watermarks in the same browser-only way: text on photo, logo on photo, batch processing and PDF watermarking. A corner mark you control beats one you inherited.
FAQ
Is it free and unlimited?
Yes. No account, no credits, no limits, and no watermark is added to your output.
Is it legal to remove a watermark?
Only from photos you own or are licensed to edit. Stripping a watermark to use someone else's image without a license is infringement — don't.
Does patch restore the background perfectly?
It fills from surrounding pixels — excellent on textures and gradients, approximate on sharp detail. Crop is the guaranteed option when dimensions can flex.
Can it remove watermarks that cover the whole photo?
Not convincingly. Repeated tiled marks destroy information everywhere; region-limited corner and band marks are what this handles.
Are my photos uploaded?
Never. Everything runs locally in your browser via canvas.
Does it work on phone?
Yes — the selector and both modes work on mobile browsers, though a larger screen makes precise box drawing easier.
